Our preschool is in session Monday thru Friday with a variety of schedules.

Pre-Kindergarten Class at Joyful Beginnings is open to all children turning 4 years of age by June 1st of the current year. 
We run classes Monday through Thursday from 8:30-11:30 with a Friday option.

We use the Alignment of the California Preschool Learning Foundations to ensure the developmental continuum of learning within the Lafayette School Districts guidelines.

Preschool Classes for ages 2 and 3 are available two, three or five days a week.

• Each day the teacher plans activities based on children’s interest and supports their play.  Teachers record anecdotal notes and create individual portfolios for each child in their care.
• Each week, we cover social emotional, language and literacy, cognitive and math, visual and performing arts, history, social science and science.
• We incorporate the California Preschool Learning Foundations and Desired Results Developmental Profile.
• For our dual language learners we provide time in our daily activities for Comprehension of English, Self Expression in English, Understanding and response to English Literacy Activities, and Symbol, Letter. and Print Knowledge in English as stated in the DRDP.
• Multicultural, non-stereotyping materials and activities help foster each child's self-concept and self-esteem, and respectfully supports cultural differences within our community. This helps children to share their family life experiences with pride, and gain knowledge of the ways of others, while learning a general appreciation of differences and similarities among people.
• Teachers support child-chosen activities to prepare the environment with stimulating, challenging activity choices and then to facilitate the children's engagement.
• All children are encouraged to explore indoors, and outdoors, aiding them in feelings of autonomy and success.
• Outdoor experiences are an integral with time for exercising muscle coordination, nature study, and the freedom outdoor space allows.
